There’s an incredible array of talent across Hospiscare, with more than 500 volunteers in 32 different roles.
One hardworking support group deserves special recognition, because they’ve been with us since the very beginning in 1982.
For 44 years, the Exeter Friends of Hospiscare has been enthusiastically spreading awareness about Hospiscare in the community, as well as raising money. The group holds a variety of events throughout the year. You name it and they do it! Everything from afternoon teas, plant sales, and open gardens to wreath-making workshops and silent discos. Some of the group bake, some make jams and chutneys, some grow plants, but all work together to run the events and have a lot of fun doing it!
A number of loyal helpers help with the events and encourage the local community to join in and support us, which they do magnificently.
Last year, the group raised a fantastic £35,000!
Many members of the Exeter Friends have had their lives touched by the work Hospiscare does and they tell us that fundraising for us is a way of saying thank you. We are so grateful for what they’ve done for us over the decades, and the money they’ve raised has made a big impact for end-of-life care locally.
