What is the Garden of Light?
The Garden of Light is a serene outdoor installation at Darts Farm, illuminated with hundreds of glowing white roses. Each rose shines in tribute to a loved one, offering a peaceful space to reflect and remember. The event supports compassionate end-of-life care provided by Hospiscare, the local adult hospice charity.
How do I dedicate a rose?
You can dedicate a rose by making a donation online. When you dedicate a rose, you can choose to:
- Write your own dedication message when visiting in person, or
- Ask a Hospiscare volunteer to handwrite and place your message in the garden on your behalf.
How much should I donate?
There’s no fixed amount, but we suggest a minimum donation of £20 or one of the following to show the impact of your gift:
- £36.50 – Funds one hour of specialist bereavement support
- £48.26 – Covers the cost of a nurse’s home visit
- £192.37 – Supports a nurse’s shift on our In Patient ward
You can also add Gift Aid to boost your donation at no extra cost – we can claim an extra 25p for every £1 you give.
Can I visit the Garden of Light?
Yes, we warmly welcome you to visit.
Public visiting hours:
12–23 November
4pm – 8pm daily
Darts Farm, Topsham, EX3 0QH
During your visit, you can:
- Make your donation, then collect a marker at the garden to write your personal dedication.
- Place your dedication in the location of your choosing within the garden
What if I can’t attend in person?
If you’re unable to visit, our volunteers will handwrite and place your dedication for you with care and respect.
Please note we are not able to locate or retrieve specific dedications once they’ve been placed.
How do I collect my dedication marker?
If you’ve already dedicated a rose online:
- Bring your confirmation email to the garden during public hours
- A team member will give you your dedication marker to write and place yourself
Can I dedicate more than one rose?
Yes. You’re welcome to dedicate multiple roses in memory of more than one person.
What happens to the dedications after the event?
After the installation closes, the garden will be respectfully dismantled. Unfortunately, we are unable to return individual markers. If you’d like a personal keepsake, we recommend visiting and photographing your tribute during the event.
Is the event accessible?
Yes, Darts Farm offers accessible facilities and parking. The Garden of Light will be located on level ground. If you have specific access needs, please let a team member know when you arrive.
