Hospiscare Heroes – From treks to donations

Our Hospiscare Heroes have been flexing their superpowers to support our charity in an incredible variety of ways

Our Hospiscare Heroes are truly super; week after week, they support our local charity with their fundraising endeavours across Exeter, Mid and East Devon, ensuring we can be there for our patients and their families when they need us most.

From all of us at Hospiscare, we are sending a huge thank you to all of our Hospiscare Heroes. Read on to find out how they have been flexing their superpowers this week.

Firstly, we want to send our thanks to Calum, Stacey and Karen from Persimmon Homes, and local Councillor Marina Asvachin, for visiting our Searle House hospice for a cheque presentation with Rachel & Kate, two #TeamHospiscare London Marathon 2023 runners — Rachel applied to Persimmon’s Community Champions scheme as part of her fundraising and was generously awarded £1,000!

We also want to thank Denise and Teresa for taking on the South Coast Ultra Challenge. The pair took on a very tough route, facing plenty of difficult hills and weather conditions. While Denise conquered the 57km half challenge, Teresa went on to walk the 100km Ultra Challenge – both incredible achievements and it’s not the first time they have taken on a challenge for Hospiscare: they’ve also completed the Isle of White, London 2 Brighton and The Jurassic Coast Ultra Challenges.

You may remember Mike Hull from a previous Hospiscare Heroes blog at the end of July when he set off to walk 630 miles of the South West Coast Path, starting in Minehead, Somerset and taking in North Devon, North Cornwall, Land’s End, South Cornwall, South Devon, and Dorset along the way. Mike has now finished his trek and raised over £2000 for Hospiscare – an incredible amount and effort, thank you for supporting our local charity and sharing your adventure with us!

Finally, we are sending thanks to Helpline Ltd. After recently closing their Exeter office (as their staff are now working remotely), they donated a range of office equipment to Hospiscare. Our estates team visited their office and returned with the van fully loaded – thank you so much for choosing to support our local charity with your generous donations!

Thank you to all our Hospiscare Heroes on behalf of our staff, patients, and their loved ones.

We love hearing your stories about how you are fundraising for Hospiscare so please get in touch with us on Facebook or Twitter to share your photos and fundraising tales.
