Our Twilight with a Twist Hospiscare Heroes!

This week, we are sending out a special thank you to some very special pink and glitzy supporters

In our Hospiscare Heroes blog this week, we are sending out a very special thank you to everyone who made Twilight with a Twist such a fabulous event.

The pandemic has changed many aspects of our lives but it hasn’t changed the determination of our community to support end-of-life care in the heart of Devon.

On Saturday 10 July, almost 600 Hospiscare supporters stepped out in pink, with added sparkle, for the 15th annual Twilight Walk. This event has traditionally been one of the largest mass participation fundraising events in Devon, with almost 1,000 participants coming together to walk a coastal route starting and finishing in Exmouth.

This year, participants were asked to walk a route local to them in their own groups of friends and family. Participants could download a party-themed Twilight playlist and, following the walk, there was a special set by local musician Phil Smyth.

We have been overwhelmed by the amazing support our community has shown our 15th anniversary Twilight Walk. We are sending a huge thank you to each and every one of our Twilighters and to their families and friends for supporting them and donating to their fundraising. Although our walkers had to take part in groups miles apart, together they raised over £30,000 to support end-of-life care in the heart of Devon.

We would also like to thank Jurassic Fibre for sponsoring Twilight in its 15th anniversary year. The event would not have been possible without their support. The team came together to walk on Saturday (pictured above) and we think you’ll agree that they look absolutely fabulous.

Our thanks go to The Puffing Billy for supporting Twilight by providing a £100 voucher to spend at their beautiful pub in Exton as part of our prize draw.

We are so grateful to LED Leisure in Exmouth for providing the warm-up for all of our walkers – it was a great way to start the day!

Finally, we would like to say a huge thank you to Phil Smyth for putting together the fantastic after-party set. It was the perfect way to finish the day.
