Learn how to safely and competently set up, administer and monitor syringe pumps and develop the ability to troubleshoot and problem solve.
This training will equip you with the theory required to perform this skill and opportunity to practice the skills required. Competency assessments will need to be completed in your workplace following attendance on this course.
• Be able to identify the clinical indications for using a syringe pump
• Be able to identify the drugs and dose ranges commonly used in a syringe pump
• Be able to discuss the general principles when caring and supporting a patient and their carers when a syringe pump is in use
• Be able to recognise common problems which may arise when a syringe pump is in use
• Be able to identify professional accountability and responsibility when caring for a patient when a syringe pump is in use
