Hospiscare Heroes – From afternoon teas to quirky cockerels

Our Hospiscare Heroes have been as busy as ever, finding innovative ways to fund raise for our charity at this difficult time

Our Hospiscare Heroes are truly super; week after week, they support our charity with their fundraising endeavours across Exeter, Mid and East Devon. From all of us at Hospiscare, we are sending a huge thank you to all of our Hospiscare Heroes. Read on to find out how they have been flexing their super powers this week.

Groups of people at tables outside

We are sending a huge thank you to Coldharbour Farm for holding a wonderful afternoon tea to raise money for our charity on Saturday 7 August. Despite the slightly inclement weather, the day was a huge success with supporters enjoying their teas under gazebos and umbrellas while singer Michelle Mae performed. The event included a raffle and cake stall and raised an amazing total of £1,500! Thank you to Coldharbour Farm Shop, Sheila Williams and her helpers, Michelle Mae, Pixie Day Committee, the local WI, the Town Council, the Honiton Hospiscare Support Group, the Ottervale Friends of Hospiscare and all of those who attended and made the day such a success.

We are very grateful to the Mark Masters Masons of Devonshire, funded by the Mark Benevolent Fund, for their recent donation of £8,000 to our local charity. Peter Balsom, the Provincial Grand Master for Devonshire, said “We are absolutely delighted that the members of the Province have chosen to support Hospiscare. We are all aware of the toll that the pandemic has taken on charities across the country and we hope that this small gift will go some way to help enhance patient care and provide improved facilities for those in need and their families.”

Two hand crafted material cockerels

We are also sending our thanks to Wendy Chaffey, one of our amazing crafters in Honiton, for creating these quirky cockerels and selling them in aid of Hospiscare.

A South West Coast 2 Coast medal

Thank you to Sinead Wickenden for taking on the South West Coast 2 Coast Challenge. Sinead raised an amazing £120 for Hospiscare.

Thank you to Azziza and all of the residents of Homelace House in Honiton for organising an afternoon tea in lieu of taking part in our Twilight Walk. They raised a whopping £103.03.

Thank you to the customers at Joshua’s Harvest Store in Ottery for collecting on behalf of Hospiscare and raising £39.70.

We are sending our thanks to the staff and customers of Mole Avon in Axminster for collecting on behalf of Hospiscare and raising £89.42.

Finally, thank you to World of Country Life who have made us their beneficiary charity for their upcoming classic car event. They are also sponsoring two further events, one of which is our attendance at the Ottery St Mary Food and Families Festival. Thank you also to the Festival for inviting us to attend as one of their chosen charities.
