Hospiscare Heroes – From biker bucket collections to business donations

Our Hospiscare Heroes have been flexing their super powers to support our charity at this difficult time

Our Hospiscare Heroes are truly super; week after week, they support our local charity with their fundraising endeavours across Exeter, Mid and East Devon and help to save our services for the future. Every pound raised can help keep our vital care service running for local people in need.

From all of us at Hospiscare, we are sending a huge thank you to all of our Hospiscare Heroes. Read on to find out how they have been flexing their super powers this week.

Three people holding a big cheque in front of a Thrifty sign

We are sending a huge thank you to our long-term supporter, Thrifty. Every time someone hires a van or car through Thrifty’s website, £1 goes to our local charity. This has allowed Thrifty to commit a phenomenal £250,000 to Hospiscare. We are so grateful to Thrifty and to all of their customers.

Classic motorbikes parked in front of an Exeter sign made of lights

We are also sending our thanks to the Exeter Classic Motorcycle Club who held a bucket collection in Exeter’s Guildhall Shopping Centre on 4 December. Despite the cold, wind and hail, many shoppers stopped to admire the classic motorcycles and drop some change in the buckets. The club raised a fantastic £752.64! The club have held bucket collections in support of Hospiscare for over 20 years, raising over £15,000 for our local charity. Thank you to all of the club members and to everyone who donated on the day.

A woman and man holding a big cheque outside a shop

We are so grateful to the staff at The Original Factory Shop in Honiton who have chosen us as their Charity of the Year. The staff have raised money by organising fundraising events in the shop and encouraging customers to donate to the collection tins in store and by swiping their loyalty cards and buying carrier bags. Shop Manager, Jack Mayo, is pictured above with a cheque for £407.51 for our local charity.

A man and a woman holding a big cheque outside

We are so grateful to the Honiton & District Lions Club for all of their amazing fundraising efforts over the past year. This enabled their Chairman, Brian Richards, to present our Community Fundraiser, Toni Hiscocks, with a cheque for £1,500!

We are sending a huge thank you to Feniton Bowling Club for their generous donation of £310.

A Christmas tree outside with lights on

Finally, we would like to thank Connetts Farm at Dunkeswell for their donation of six  beautiful Christmas trees to Searle House. All of the trees have now been positioned in the garden and decorated for patients and families to enjoy.
