Hospiscare Heroes – From Canalathons to Twilight pink treats

Our Hospiscare Heroes have been flexing their super powers to support our charity in an incredible variety of ways

Our Hospiscare Heroes are truly super; week after week, they support our local charity with their fundraising endeavours across Exeter, Mid and East Devon and help to save our services for the future.

From all of us at Hospiscare, we are sending a huge thank you to all of our Hospiscare Heroes. Read on to find out how they have been flexing their super powers this week.

A man and a woman wearing running gear holding medals

We are sending a big thank you to Lin and her husband (pictured above) who are taking on a Canalathon for Hospiscare! For those of you who are wondering what on earth this challenge is, Lin and her husband will be running seven marathons over the course of seven days – phew! They embarked on this epic endurance test on 3 July and have completed three of their seven marathons on the route from London to Birmingham.

The determined pair have raised over £700 for our local hospice charity and there are still four marathons to complete. To donate to their incredible challenge, please click here.

We are also sending our thanks to Combe Farm Shop who are raising awareness and funds for our Twilight Walk this week. The team at Combe Farm Shop and Combe Garden Centre are celebrating all things pink for Hospiscare this week and there are a range of pink treats available to pick up in the shop.

Four people wearing Hospiscare running vests

We are so grateful to Wayne, Kevin, Steph and Mark for their incredible fundraising in memory of Kevin’s dad, Clive. The team of four completed the Samworth Brother’s Charity Challenge – a gruelling adventure race lasting between 10-12 hours and involving three main disciplines: mountain biking, running/walking and kayaking. Together, they raised an incredible £3,000 for Hospiscare!

A group of people holding a big cheque in a garden

Thank you to our St Leonards Open Gardeners who kindly opened their gardens to raise vital funds for our charity. Seven gardens opened throughout St Leonards with over 250 people attending. Visitors enjoyed refreshments and acoustic music from Samuel Kivuva and together they raised a phenomenal £3,481.52!

A woman next to a cake table

Thank you also to Hall & Scott Estate Agents, whose Exmouth office held a cake sale to raise funds for Hospiscare. This delicious-looking spread was very well-received and raised a whopping £254 for our charity! We are sending our thanks to everyone who supported, baked and donated!

A glass of pink fizz in front of a Twilight Walk poster

Thank you to The Point Bar & Grill who are offering a special Pink Fizz this week to raise funds for Hospiscare in the lead up to our Twilight Walk. Available until 9 July, this delicious-looking drink is made with Luke’s homemade raspberry syrup and is topped with Prosecco!

Finally, thank you to The Original Factory Shop in Honiton for their recent donation of toiletries. Jack Mayo and the team at TOFS are proud supporters of our charity and we are so grateful for their ongoing dedication.
