Hospiscare Heroes – From festive shop windows to homemade fudge

Our Hospiscare Heroes have been flexing their super powers to support our charity at this difficult time

Our Hospiscare Heroes are truly super; week after week, they support our local charity with their fundraising endeavours across Exeter, Mid and East Devon and help to save our services for the future. Every pound raised can help keep our vital care service running for local people in need.

From all of us at Hospiscare, we are sending a huge thank you to all of our Hospiscare Heroes. Read on to find out how they have been flexing their super powers this week.

Thank you to all of our amazing Hospiscare shops’ staff for getting into the festive spirit by decorating their shop windows as part of Christmas Window competition. Thank you to everyone who voted on Facebook and for all of the lovely comments we received, both online and in-store, about the festive windows. Congratulations to our winner, Budleigh Hospiscare Shop! Budleigh’s Shop Manager, Paul, is pictured above proudly accepting the trophy.

We are sending a huge thank you to Sammy who has kindly been raising money for us this year. Sammy took part in Marathon in a Month in October and has recently been selling fudge at his school in Feniton, raising a fantastic £154.65! Sammy has been doing all of his fundraising in memory of his grandmother, Flo, who was cared for by Hospiscare and sadly died before Sammy was born. It’s wonderful that Sammy keeps the memory of Flo alive by supporting a cause that will benefit many local families. Well done Sammy!

We are also sending our thanks to Dawlish Funeralcare who held their annual Christmas Memorial Service on 2 December at St Gregory’s Church and collected for two local charities: Hospiscare and Rowcroft. Thank you to Catherine Bate and the team at Dawlish Funeralcare for organising the collection and to everyone who kindly donated at the service – over £130 was raised!

We are so grateful to the Excester Masonic Lodge for their recent donation of £2,500 to our Emergency SOS Appeal. Martin Gill, Charity Officer and Treasurer from the Lodge presented our fundraiser Denise with the cheque in a surprise visit on Friday 17 December. We need to raise an additional £1 million by the end of March to prevent reducing our vital services and we are so thankful for the Lodge’s donation.

Thank you to Crazy 4 Soul who raised an amazing £252.31 from their recent soul dance event. A huge amount of fun was had at the event and Crazy 4 Soul’s donation makes a huge difference to our local charity.
