Our Hospiscare Heroes are truly super; week after week, they support our local charity with their fundraising endeavours across Exeter, Mid and East Devon, ensuring we can be there for our patients and their families when they need us most.
From all of us at Hospiscare, we are sending a huge thank you to all of our Hospiscare Heroes. Read on to find out how they have been flexing their superpowers this week.
Firstly, we would like to thank the Exeter Mobile Blood Team who held a Festive Fortnight of fundraising for Hospiscare between December 4 and December 18. The festivities included a raffle and the total raised by the team was £830! Thank you so much to this committed team of colleagues, who already go above and beyond in their own work lives. It is so lovely to see such festive goodwill for our cause. We are so grateful you chose Hospiscare for your donation, it enables us to continue providing vital specialist care locally.
Next, we have a huge thank you to two young fundraisers! Gabriel and Eden have done an amazing job raising funds for Hospiscare in memory of their Grandfather who was cared for at the Hospice. The boys sold Reindeer Food at school during the Christmas term and raised a fantastic £200! Thank you to the boys for your amazing efforts! It will enable more families and loved ones to benefit from the service.
Otter Tots Day Care Nursery in Exmouth raised over £2,500.00 for Hospiscare. The local Day Care Nursery chose four local charities to support during 2023 raising over £10,000 in total. The Staff organised fundraising activities including two community fetes, assault courses, walks and a quiz. We are so grateful for these community champions who go out of their way to support our charity and enabling us to support patients and families locally.
We want to pay a special thank you to all who supported them, including the staff and parents, and adoration to the wonderful children at the nursery for their contributions and cuteness!
Finally, we must pay a huge thank you to Otter Garden Centre in Ottery St Mary who raised over £17,000 for Hospiscare in 2023. This is a record for the garden centre and the largest amount raised in a single year. Donations came in via a combination of staff and customer events, including bingo and quiz evenings, tombola, the Memory Tree, a skydive, fundraising walk, and parking for the Tar Barrels in November. In December, the ever popular penguin and reindeer animations brought in plenty of donations, boosted by appearances from Father Christmas!
Hospiscare Area Fundraiser, Toni Hiscocks said: “It’s the biggest cheque I’ve ever had to write out – the Otter team are a force to be reckoned with!”
As a local charity, we are reliant on donations and gifts in wills to fund our services – so we really couldn’t be more grateful to the staff at Otter Garden Centre for this incredible effort! We send our gratitude to all team members who went the extra mile for Hospiscare, as well as the customers for their ongoing generosity throughout 2023.
