Week after week, they pour their time, energy, and creativity into fundraising for our local charity, making a meaningful impact on our patients and their families across Exeter, Central, and East Devon.
Here’s a glimpse into how they have been using their extraordinary talents.
Run, George, Run!
Did you know that Hadrian’s Wall stretches 113 kilometres? Our Hospiscare Hero, George, a determined Year 8 student, decided to run the exact distance as part of his school project. George was inspired to undertake this challenge after Hospiscare provided care for his aunt during her battle with terminal cancer.
George divided the challenge into approximately 25 runs of five kilometres each, aiming to raise £300 for Hospiscare.
However, his determination and the generosity of his supporters has propelled him far beyond his initial target. To date George has raised an impressive £855, more than doubling his original goal.
From everyone at Hospiscare, we extend our deepest gratitude to George and all who supported him. Your dedication and generosity are truly inspiring and make a real difference in the lives of those we care for.
Euros Sweepstake Siblings
Next up, we have Theo (8) and Beth (7), two imaginative and compassionate siblings who turned their love for football into a fundraising opportunity. Over the summer, they organised a Euros sweepstake, bringing their family together.
Although England didn’t quite clinch the title, Theo and Beth’s enthusiasm and creativity shone through.
In memory of their sister-in-law, Ingrid Patrick, the siblings donated the £120 they raised through their sweepstake to Hospiscare.
We are incredibly proud of Theo and Beth for their efforts and the difference they’ve made in their community.
Jim’s UK tour continues
Finally, we bring you an update on Jim’s mammoth tour of the UK coastline. At the beginning of August, we shared the news of Jim embarking on this epic journey, and now we’re thrilled to report on his progress.
Starting from Tenby in southwest Wales at the end of July, Jim has been travelling anti-clockwise around the UK. He has now reached the Exe Estuary, completing the first leg of his journey. This milestone brings him closest to home and Hospiscare’s base in Exeter. From here, Jim will continue his tour from Exmouth, heading east towards Dorset, raising awareness and funds for Hospiscare along the way.
We extend our deepest gratitude to Jim for his unwavering commitment to Hospiscare.
Thank you to all our Hospiscare Heroes on behalf of our staff, patients, and their loved ones.
