Our Hospiscare Heroes are truly super; week after week, they support our local charity with their fundraising endeavours across Exeter, Mid and East Devon, ensuring we can be there for our patients and their families when they need us most.
From all of us at Hospiscare, we are sending a huge thank you to all of our Hospiscare Heroes. Read on to find out how they have been flexing their superpowers this week.
Firstly we would like to thank Lauren Pearcy and her friend Sally who completed the Jurassic Coast Ultra Challenge on Saturday 18 May, trekking 21 miles from Corfe Castle to Weymouth. Together, they’ve raised a brilliant £337 for Hospiscare.
It wasn’t Lauren or Sally’s first rodeo in aid of Hospiscare – from Summer Walk to skydives to the Jurassic Coast Ultra Challenge, there’s no stopping these Hospiscare Heroes.
Lauren and Sally were not the only ones challenging themselves on the Dorset coast for Hospiscare.
Brett tackled the Jurassic Coast Ultra Marathon for Hospiscare last year in memory of his dad. This year, he took to the Jurassic Coast again, this time completing the trek from Corfe Castle all the way to Weymouth. Brett raised an incredible £910 for Hospiscare all while wearing his dad’s beloved West Ham shirt.

Sunday 12 May was a busy day on the airfield for these brave heroes taking on their sky based challenges!
Hospiscare Heroes Lilli and Millie from AWP, Felicity from Thrifty and Natasha all did themselves and Hospiscare proud and completed their skydives. Lilli and Millie raised £835 between them, Felicity raised £305 and Natasha raised £935!
On the same day we saw the heroic Ed from the Tally Ho Inn and Andrea who completed their wing walks! Excluding costs, Ed raised £665 and Andrea raised £1571 for Hospiscare.
Thank you to all the brave supporters who took on their challenges for Hospiscare. We must also give a special mention to the family and friends of Lilli, Millie, Felicity, Natasha, Andrea and Ed who came to watch and cheer them on.
Natasha was skydiving in memory of her mum, Sharon, so it was a particularly special occasion for her. Natasha and her family are pictured below. What an amazing turnout!
Next, we would like to thank true Hospiscare Hero Roger who decided to celebrate his 80th birthday in the best way – by making a difference!
Together with his family, Roger undertook a 6 mile sponsored walk, inspired by the care Hospiscare gave his late wife and daughter. Thank you, Roger, for raising an incredible £600!
Roger’s granddaughter Laura said:
“We are all extremely proud of his achievement and the money that he has raised.”
We’d also like to say a huge thank you to Team Yompers. On Saturday 18 May they battled the elements and windswept terrain of Dartmoor to complete their Yomp. I’m sure you’ve already heard about Team Yompers, but they decided to take on the challenge in memory of Simon’s wife, Natalie.
They walked all over the challenge and have raised a phenomenal £13,972 so far! You can read more about this incredible challenge here.
