Hospiscare Heroes – From reindeer runs to cathedral concerts!

Our Hospiscare Heroes have been flexing their superpowers to support our charity in an incredible variety of ways

Our Hospiscare Heroes are truly super; week after week, they support our local charity with their fundraising endeavours across Exeter, Mid and East Devon, ensuring we can be there for our patients and their families when they need us most.

From all of us at Hospiscare, we are sending a huge thank you to all of our Hospiscare Heroes. Read on to find out how they have been flexing their superpowers this week.

The amazing participants of the event!

On Saturday 9 December a very special event took place in Honiton – ‘Honiton Does Strictly!’ The event took place at The Beehive in Honiton with six local couples competed to win the crown! Thank you to Nathan Hannay and Lucie Welsman-Manvell who planned and organised the event, the staff at The Beehive for hosting and to all danced, attended and donated raffle prizes. The event was a wonderful occasion enjoyed by the local community and the six local dancers who took part, raising a phenomenal £3378.00! Congratulations to Sam and Laura Waring who were the winners!

Keen participants at West Hill Primary School’s Reindeer Run 2023. Including pupils, parents and teachers!

Jo Pavey, Toni Hiscocks (Area Fundraiser) and a participant at the Reindeer Run.

December has been a great month for festive fundraising. The Reindeer Run campaign has been a great success! Last week, West Hill Primary School held their very own Reindeer Run (18 laps of the tennis court equating to a mile!) It was such a fun morning for all 25 involved including students, teachers, parents and even guest appearances from Olympian and European gold medallist Jo Pavey and Hospiscare Area Fundraiser, Toni Hiscocks! Thank you to all for taking part and supporting Hospiscare. Your festive fitness fun exceeded fundraising target of £100 and had reached £153 by mid morning! We are so grateful for your support and generosity.

The La La Choir performing on the night.

Finally, we must recognise the amazing fundraising effort of our 40 club members and supporters at La La Choir, who held a Cathedral Concert for Hospiscare on Saturday 15 December. It was a wonderful event featuring beautiful singing in a truly special location of Exeter Cathedral. Thank you to La La Choir for organising the event, Exeter Cathedral for hosting, Adopstar for sponsoring and the terrific audience who joined in celebrating a fantastic, festive evening! It was a huge success with a grand total of £16388.58 raised! We are so very grateful for this incredible fundraising concert. Hospicare relies on contributions like this to run services. Fundraising is vital in enabling us to provide specialist care for those facing life-limiting conditions locally. We really could not do it without your support.

Thank you to all our Hospiscare Heroes on behalf of our staff, patients, and their loved ones.
