Hospiscare Heroes – From scarecrow trails to Valentine’s cream teas

Our Hospiscare Heroes have been as busy as ever, finding innovative ways to fund raise for our charity at this difficult time

Our Hospiscare Heroes are truly super; week after week, they support our charity with their fundraising endeavours across Exeter, Mid and East Devon. From all of us at Hospiscare, we are sending a huge thank you to all of our Hospiscare Heroes. Read on to find out how they have been flexing their super powers this week.

A scarecrow of Miss Piggy sitting on a chair

We are sending a huge thank you to everyone who has been involved in organising the Countess Wear Scarecrow Trail. Families and households in the community have been busy building their own scarecrows to add to the trail to bring some much-needed cheer and entertainment to the community.

If you live nearby and would like to get involved in the Countess Wear Scarecrow Trail, you can find all of the information you need, as well as an interactive map of all of the scarecrows here.

As well as being a source of fun and cheer to those living in the area, the organisers of the trail are asking those who take part to make a donation to our local charity. This can be done by dropping some coins in the physical collection pot located on Lime Kiln Lane or by donating online.

We are so grateful to all of those involved in organising this brilliant event, and to all of the households who made scarecrows and took part in the trail.

Our next thank you is to the amazing Jess and the Exeter Friends of Hospiscare who made, assembled and delivered 140 Valentine’s Cream Teas on 14 February to people in their local area. The cream teas looked absolutely delicious and we hope that everyone enjoyed their Valentine’s Day treat.

Jess and the Exeter Friends raised an amazing £800 for Hospiscare through their baking and delivering efforts. Thank you.

Finally, thank you to Jeanette Freeman Soft Furnishings for kindly donating approximately £100 worth of fabric to the Honiton ladies. They have been making various craft items and selling them in aid of Hospiscare.

We love hearing your stories about how your are fundraising for Hospiscare so please get in touch with us on Facebook or Twitter to share your photos and fundraising tales.
