Hospiscare Heroes – From seafront stalls to in-memory fundraisers

Our Hospiscare Heroes have been as busy as ever, finding innovative ways to fund raise for our charity at this difficult time

Our Hospiscare Heroes are truly super; week after week, they support our charity with their fundraising endeavours across Exeter, Mid and East Devon. From all of us at Hospiscare, we are sending a huge thank you to all of our Hospiscare Heroes. Read on to find out how they have been flexing their super powers this week.

A group of women outside underneath a parasol

We are sending a huge thank you to Steph Preston and her amazing team of friends in Sidmouth who organised a fundraising stall on the seafront from 30 July to 1 August. Steph and her friends sold handmade crafts and gifts, as well as books and other items of interest, and raised a fantastic £835. Thank you to everyone who popped along to support them in raising this phenomenal amount.

Three women outside wearing pink

We are also sending our thanks to the lovely ladies pictured above: Julie Green, Jacky Collins and Carolyn Williams. Julie, Jacky and Carolyn walked 10 miles in memory of Janine who sadly lost her battle to bowel cancer at the age of 36, leaving behind her little boy Oscar.

A garden with a stone wall and thatched structure

Thank you to Emily and Oli Fursdon and the team who held an Open Garden afternoon for Hospiscare at the lovely Fursdon House, Cadbury. Visitors were able to enjoy the garden and some also toured the house. All of the proceeds were kindly donated to Hospiscare and the afternoon raised an incredible £547.20.

A garden with a stone wall

Thank you also to Susan and Henry Parker for sharing their lovely garden at Downes House, Crediton, with our visitors on 31 July. We are also sending a huge thank you to our amazing volunteers, Sue and Bridget, for their help on the day. There was also a raffle held and the lucky winner won a tour of the historic Downes House to share with three friends later in the summer. The Open Gardens event raised an amazing £354.70.

A man with an old-fashioned mower in a garden

Thank you to Jess and Matt Macan who held an Open Garden and served delicious teas with the help of the Exeter Friends of Hospiscare in June. The afternoon raised a fantastic £3000.96. Visitors really enjoyed the afternoon and exploring Matt’s new lock down produce garden. Matt is pictured above, enjoying his new garden.

Two people wearing Hospiscare t-shirts in a shop

Thank you to all of the staff at The Original Factory Shop in Honiton for supporting our local charity.

A Town Crier, two women and mayor by a cake table

Finally, thank you to Linda and Amanda Hockings for holding a Coffee Morning with fantastic homemade cakes and a brilliant raffle. Linda and Amanda are pictured above with the Exmouth Town Crier and Exmouth Mayor and together, the ladies raised a fantastic £644.15.
