For this Hospiscare Heroes update, we are sending out a very special thank you to our Tour de Devon cyclists. This was a brand new event for our local charity and we have loved following the progress of our cyclists as they clocked up the miles and the money to support us!
Following the cancellation of many of our events due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been overwhelmed by the support for our new virtual cycling event.
Tour de Devon took place from 31 August to 21 September and challenged participants to complete 50, 100 or 250 miles at their pace over the course of the event. Our cyclists had complete control over their own routes and were asked to raise sponsorship to support our local charity at this difficult time.
Our Tour de Devon cyclists certainly rose to the challenge, not only achieving their individual mileage and sponsorship targets but collectively raising over £10,500!
Event organiser Becky Botfield said, “Hospiscare’s first ever Tour de Devon has been amazing! Nearly 100 riders have taken to the pedals to support Hospiscare. We have been blown away by our riders’ commitment to both the challenge and their fundraising.
“This is Hospiscare’s first virtual challenge and after the success of this event, we can’t wait for our second virtual challenge, Marathon in a Month, in October.”
Thank you to everyone who took part in and supported Tour de Devon – you are true heroes. Thank you also to Silk Cycles who provided the prizes for our Tour de Devon raffle; we are so grateful for your support.
