This winter, we put out a call for local businesses to sponsor the vital care that we provide over the festive season. We asked our business community to consider taking part in our 12 Days of Care by sponsoring a 12 or 24 hour period of care in the lead-up to Christmas. 22 amazing local businesses signed up to make the difference of a lifetime to local families facing terminal illness.
Here, Craig from Commercial Managed IT tells us why they answered the call to take part in our 12 Days of Care.
As Christmas approaches, we’re reminded of how tough this year has been, on so many fronts.
So many of us are missing our loved ones and it’s certainly been difficult not being able to simply put an arm around friends, family and colleagues to provide reassurance and comfort. The care sector demonstrates this acutely – people who long for contact at what is such a difficult time reminds us of the amazing work that Hospiscare and other charities provide to so many in need.
The world, as we remember it, has changed
Whilst the social impact may lessen over time with vaccines now in motion, how and where we work has likely changed forever.
We’re all tucked away in our home studies, dining rooms and kitchens, tapping away. In a positive way, we’ve been forced to adapt how we communicate, racing off to install ‘Zoom’ or ‘MS Teams’ to not only work from home but also keep in touch with those closest to us.
I’ve enjoyed the visible contact these tools have given us at short notice, even if through necessity. My car has done fewer miles with meetings now carried out remotely, yet equally effectively. As such, the air outside seems cleaner, something close to all of our hearts.
