We teamed up with Roger Wilkinson, Managing Director at Wilkinson Grant, to hear about why the organisation continues to support Hospiscare via Men’s Walk and our 40 Club.
As well as sponsoring Men’s Walk, Roger and his team also support our annual fundraising event in many other ways, including volunteering on the day, promoting the event in the lead up and even entering a team of their own – their ongoing support and willingness to get stuck in plays a huge part in the success of Men’s Walk.
Roger, Managing Director at Wilkinson Grant explains “Men’s Walk is an excellent community event which brings together all age groups from all walks of life – Whether on your own, in a group, male, female, young or old – you will enjoy it! We couldn’t be more pleased or proud that Men’s Walk has become such a success and is now firmly established in the local community calendar.
“We have always been committed to supporting local charities and community groups and supporting Hospiscare aligns perfectly with our social values. We are always keen to encourage local businesses to help raise awareness and much-needed funds for Hospiscare.”
As well as supporting Men’s Walk, Wilkinson Grant are a member of the Hospiscare 40 Club, an initiative where businesses pledge to raise £1,000 for our local charity over a 12-months period.
Roger continues “Hospiscare is often mistaken for a national charity and it’s not, it is a massively underfunded local charity which desperately needs the funds raised by local businesses, volunteers and the local community.”
“For us, it’s more than just ticking the box of corporate social responsibility. Fundraising via Hospiscare’s 40 Club helps drive team building and staff engagement. We earn our livelihood from the local community so it’s important that we put something back, not just by way of donations or fundraising but also by lending pro-active support.”
Over the last ten years since Wilkinson Grant have been sponsoring Men’s Walk, a total of £660,000 has been raised to support end-of-life care across the heart of Devon.
Ann Rhys, Hospiscare’s Clinical Director, explains “Men’s Walk is a big one for us as a charity and the support of local businesses like Wilkinson Grant means our events can be held and delivered successfully, enabling our clinical teams to continue their great work every day of the year. We are incredibly grateful for the support we get.”
“It’s incredible to see our local community come together with their friends, colleagues, families, and even four-legged friends every year to raise a fantastic amount to ensure we can deliver our end-of-life care. I can’t wait to see the atmosphere, laughter, and fantastic efforts once again for Men’s Walk 2024!”
