Our Hospiscare Heroes are truly super; week after week, they support our local charity with their fundraising endeavours across Exeter, Mid and East Devon, ensuring we can be there for our patients and their families when they need us most.
From all of us at Hospiscare, we are sending a huge thank you to all of our Hospiscare Heroes. Read on to find out how they have been flexing their superpowers this week.
This week our first Hospiscare Heroes are the incredible team of challengers Team Julie! The team are taking part in a number of challenges this year in memory of Julie who was cared for at the end of life by Hospiscare.
At the weekend Sam, Joshua, Harry and Katy took on the Exeter Half Marathon in memory of Julie. Despite the race being re-routed due to flooding, each member of Team Julie crossed the finish line in true Hospiscare Hero style and together they have raised £4,655 so far!
We are so grateful for this incredible effort by the team! Thank you to all of you for your determination, strength and love! Thank you to everyone who has kindly donated to the team so far. If you would like to find out more or donate, you can find the Just Giving page here.
Next, we would like to say a huge thank you to Honiton Freemasons who presented a cheque to staff at Kings House in Honiton this week. The group raised an amazing £400 for Hospiscare by holding a Christmas function.
Pictured above are: Natalie Mear (Community Cluster Team Leader for East Devon at Hospiscare), Dave Perkins (MBE and Master of Honiton Freemasons), Sue Tanton, Pat Jacob (Clinical Nurse Specialist for Hospiscare) and Chris Hallett (Secretary of the Honiton Freemasons).
Thank you so much to the group for holding their event in aid of Hospiscare. Support like this enables Hospiscare to provide specialist end-of-life care in the local area.
Finally, we would like to give thanks to a joint act of goodwill. To celebrate their 60th anniversary Otter Garden Centres are making a special pledge set to benefit the local community with 60 Good Deeds.
This week they met Miriam, the founder of Honiton Community Action Group. This community-led group are currently maintaining the Garden at our Kings House site.
Otter Garden Centres kindly donated a female holly tree for the garden to provide a vital source of food for birds and an important space for the residents to spend time in a quiet place with nature. Thank you to Otter Garden Centres, Miriam and everyone at the Honiton Community Action Group for your ongoing hard work.
Thank you to all our Hospiscare Heroes on behalf of our staff, patients, and their loved ones.
