Our Hospiscare Heroes are truly super; week after week, they support our local charity with their fundraising endeavours across Exeter, Mid and East Devon, ensuring we can be there for our patients and their families when they need us most.
From all of us at Hospiscare, we are sending a huge thank you to all of our Hospiscare Heroes. Read on to find out how they have been flexing their superpowers this week.
Firstly, we must pay thanks to the local team from EDF who joined us at our warehouse in Marsh Barton for a corporate volunteering day. They gave up their time to come and learn about the donations that we receive, and then proceeded to sort through stacks of books, CDs and DVDs. This support will help to generate income for all of the patients and families that receive our specialist support. It is so great to be so well supported by businesses in the local area.
November is the season for bonfires and fireworks! We would like to thank Katie Kunda and her family for holding a spectacular firework night in Hemyock, Mid Devon. Proceeds and donations were collected for Hospiscare in memory of a family friend who received our support. The event was a great success with £700 raised in total! Thank you for supporting Hospiscare and enabling us to continue providing such needed care locally.
Earlier this month we featured the donation of these incredible themed bags made for children visiting the ward. Last week, Linda Lyon, from Lympstone Quilt Group delivered more of the groups creation to the Hospice. Thank you to Linda and everyone involved in the group who generously made and contributed to these bags. These wonderful handmade bags are filled with donated toys and activities. They help children of all ages make precious memories at the bedside of loved ones. A meaningful gift to give children going through the most difficult of times. A further £100 was also raised by the group at their Hospiscare Coffee Morning held at Lympstone village hall on 27 Oct. We are so grateful!
Finally, thank you to those from Otter Vets (Ottery St Mary and Sidmouth practices) who raised £150 for Hospiscare by holding Coffee Mornings for us. Both veterinary clinics held events. Thank you to all who attended, donated or simply enjoyed buying and eating the cake! We are so grateful for your ongoing support.
Thank you to all our Hospiscare Heroes on behalf of our staff, patients, and their loved ones.
