Hospiscare Heroes – From Jubilee fundraisers to skydives

Our Hospiscare Heroes have been flexing their super powers to support our charity in an incredible variety of ways

Our Hospiscare Heroes are truly super; week after week, they support our local charity with their fundraising endeavours across Exeter, Mid and East Devon and help to save our services for the future.

From all of us at Hospiscare, we are sending a huge thank you to all of our Hospiscare Heroes. Read on to find out how they have been flexing their super powers this week.

A collection of envelopes and posters

We would like to say a huge thank you to Dawn Enticott for her continued support of our local charity. Dawn continues to fundraise in her home town of Honiton and recently collected money for Hospiscare over the Easter period dressed as a bunny.

Dawn is now organising a ‘spot the object’ around Honiton’s shops to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee by creating activity packs for children.

An indoor exercise class

We would also like to thank Naia Brabyn for organising a Bootycore class and launch party on 27 April to raise money for Hospiscare. The class and raffle raised over £300! Thank you to all of those who joined Naia’s class and worked their legs, bums and tums whilst fundraising for our local charity.

A woman running in memory

Thank you to Naomi Gay for taking part in the Exeter Marathon on 15 May. Naomi is raising funds in memory of her father, David, who was cared for by Hospiscare. Naomi has raised an incredible £1,000 for our local charity.

Two women outside by a sign

We are sending a huge thank you to Liz Roberts for taking to the skies for Hospiscare! After her first dive attempt was postponed due to bad weather, it was second time lucky for Liz who completed her dive at the airfield in Perranporth.

A man on an outdoor rowing machine

We are also sending our thanks to Mark Rice who took on an epic challenge for his 60th birthday: a 60km rowing/running challenge! Mark managed to complete this amazing feat within the 24 hours of his birthday – what a hero! Despite being in a “world of pain” after hitting 45km, Mark’s amazing perseverance has raised over £1,000 for Hospiscare! Mark is already planning something for his next birthday, so watch this space…

A sunflower and field of sunflowers

Thank you to Abbotts DIY in Ottery St Mary and Seaton and the Otter Vale Friends of Hospiscare for their recent sunflower growing competition that raised over £350 for Hospiscare.

Persimmon Community Champions logo

Thank you to Persimmon Homes for their donation of £1,000 to our charity through the Persimmon Homes Community Champion Scheme.

Thank you to Denise Hook and her sister, Teresa, who have taken on another incredible challenge for Hospiscare: the Jurassic Coast Challenge! Over the weekend of the 14 May, Denise and Teresa faced the epic 100km coastal trek and have raised over £1,300 for Hospiscare!

Thank you to all of those who attended West Hill Fete on 7 May. An amazing £2,250 was raised! We would like to say a special thank you to all of the volunteers, the catering team and the stall holders who ensured that a great day was had by all.

Finally, we would like to say thank you to the community of Honiton and the surrounding area who continue to support the local Honiton Support Group with the regular events that Mary Bolshaw and her incredible team work so hard on.
