Hospiscare Heroes – From reading challenges to Christmas trees

Our Hospiscare Heroes have been flexing their super powers to support our charity in an incredible variety of ways

Our Hospiscare Heroes are truly super; week after week, they support our local charity with their fundraising endeavours across Exeter, Mid and East Devon, ensuring we can be there for our patients and their families when they need us most.

From all of us at Hospiscare, we are sending a huge thank you to all of our Hospiscare Heroes. Read on to find out how they have been flexing their superpowers this week.

We are sending a huge thank you to Brandon Hire Station, Heaver Brothers Ltd, Clinton Devon Estates, Exeter Cathedral and Sherwoods SW Ltd for their help and support in setting up our Tree of Light on Cathedral Green.

The tree will be shining throughout the festive season in memory of all of the loved ones who are no longer with us.

We are so grateful for the support of all of our partners and we would like to say a final special thank you to Walter H Squires & Son for their ongoing sponsorship of our Light up a Life celebration.

We are so grateful to Exeter Christmas Market for allowing us a chalet in this year’s market. Please pop along and meet the team and  find out more about Hospiscare. There’s also the opportunity to buy our beautiful Christmas cards and we are offering a unique gift wrap service for the festive season. Simply bring along any gifts that you’ve purchased at the market or in town and our team will wrap them for you in exchange for a donation to our local charity.

A book shelf and the words ready, set read!

We are also sending our thanks to Mary who is taking on a reading challenge to support our local charity. Mary will attempt to finish 10 books over the course of November and is taking recommendations in exchange for a donation! Mary has raised £75 so far and you can donate to her challenge here.

Finally, we would like to thank the Warhorse Run Committee for their kind donation of £500 in memory of Mark Groves. Mark, a keen supporter of the event, was cared for by Hospiscare on our specialist ward at Searle House. Earlier this year, Hospiscare supporter Wendy (pictured above) decided to put her best foot forward and complete the Warhorse 10k in Mark’s memory. Wendy raised a fantastic £440 and this alongside the Warhorse Run Committee’s donation means that a total of £940 has been raised in Mark’s memory.
