Our Hospiscare Heroes are truly super; week after week, they support our local charity with their fundraising endeavours across Exeter, Mid and East Devon, ensuring we can be there for our patients and their families when they need us most.
From all of us at Hospiscare, we are sending a huge thank you to all of our Hospiscare Heroes. Read on to find out how they have been flexing their superpowers this week.
We want to say a very big thank you and well done to #TeamHospiscare for taking on one of the most iconic races in the world… The London Marathon!
On 23 April Richard King, Andrea Parry, Phoebe Hodgetts, Rachel Payne, Kate Smith, Kate & Bruce Wheatley, Martha Bowen and Kyle Moraity all pulled on their trainers and ran a breath-taking 26.2 miles. A marathon is no walk in the park, and the team really did us proud; from training to fundraising, they really went the distance to make a difference.
The team have raised a fantastic £16,095.00 and counting for Hospiscare and we couldn’t be more grateful to them for their incredible efforts!

Our Hospiscare Heroes have been very active recently, as Team Pops tackled the Maer 10k and Half Marathon in memory of David “Pops” West. After David was supported by Hospiscare, Carole, Sarah, Hannah, Judith, Katy and Julie decided they wanted to raise vital funds to help ensure we could be there for other patients and their families.
The team raced past the finish line cheered on by our wonderful Hospiscare Cheer Squad (pictured below) – thank you Ali, Pam, Amanda, Anne and Laura!
Team Pops raised a brilliant £1,300 for Hospiscare and we couldn’t be more grateful.

Last year, supporter Mark celebrated his birthday by rowing 60k to help raise funds for Hospiscare… this year, his birthday coincides with the coronation weekend, and he will be embarking on his Devon Diamond Challenge to celebrate – cycling to the four compass point villages of Devon (Countisbury, Hawkchurch, East Prawle and Wellcombe) in a clockwise direction, creating a diamond. The trip is a total of 270 miles!
So far, Mark has raised an amazing £880 for Hospiscare. Good luck this weekend and thank you for your support. If you’d like to find out more about Mark’s Devon Diamond and help make every mile count, please click here.
Finally, we would also like to thank Amy and Sarah for completing the Exeter Inflatable 10k and raising £240 for Hospiscare. The duo didn’t let any obstacles stand between them and raised vital funds that will help support local patients and their families.
