Hospiscare’s Green-fingered Open Gardens Heroes of 2022

In this special Hospiscare Heroes blog, we thank everyone who supported our Open Gardens in 2022

This week, we are celebrating a very special group of Hospiscare Heroes: our green-fingered Open Gardeners for 2022.

From those who opened their garden gates to the thousands of people who explored the flora and fauna on show in exchange for a donation to Hospiscare, we are so grateful to you all.

From spring time right through to autumn, 41 gardens opened to raise vital funds for our local hospice.

Highlights for 2022 have included a classic car and motorbike show at Beacon Downe, Exeter and one acre of hidden green beauty at Prospect House, Axminster – a garden that has been featured in Gardener’s World.

Thanks to the incredible support of the community, this year’s Open Gardens have raised a whopping £41,568.31 for local end-of-life care.

This year’s event would not have been possible without Otter Garden Centres, who kindly sponsored our Open Gardens campaign.

Laura Robertson, Fundraising Projects Manager for Hospiscare, says From all of us here at Hospiscare, we are so grateful to our wonderful gardeners who continue to go above and beyond for our hospice every year. After a difficult few years, it has been lovely to see so many people attending the Open Gardens and enjoying these beautiful green spaces whilst supporting our local charity.

“To anyone with a passion for the outdoors, we are looking for gardeners to join us for 2023. From city gardens and allotments to country cottage gardens, everyone is welcome to join next year’s Open Gardens and showcase their flora and fauna to raise vital funds for Hospiscare.
