A new Hospiscare charity shop has opened its doors in Honiton and offers something a bit different from the standard charity shop.
Located on the High Street in the former Bests of Honiton store, the new Hospiscare shop opened on the last weekend of November and is stocked with women’s, men’s and children’s clothes, shoes and accessories from brands including Joules, Reiss, Topshop and River Island.
As well as offering quality seconds and end-of-line fashions from a range of high street brands, the open plan shop has a donation sorting area so the hospice charity can ensure donated items are sorted as soon as possible, and a wide collection of books, films, music and games.
The shop had its official ‘grand opening’ with a Christmas late night shopping event and ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday 12 December, with dedicated Honiton Hospiscare volunteer, Kevin Chown, doing the honours with the scissors.
The new store is our local hospice’s second shop in the town, with our warehouse shop on Dowell Street selling items such as white goods, furniture, bric-a-brac, and discounted clothes.
The profits from both shops help to fund our patient care and mission to make every day matter for local people living with terminal illnesses.
Retail Director at Hospiscare, Rhodri Morgan, says: “We’re delighted to have opened our second charity shop in Honiton. This new shop really offers something new for local shoppers, and we’re thrilled that we’ll also be able to receive and process donations in-store too.
“It really takes the support of the community to keep our hospice caring for those in need and the people of East Devon have shown such kindness and generosity to the hospice and our patients.
“As with our Dowell Street shop, every purchase in our new shop will go towards supporting vital end-of-life care for local people and I hope Honitonians will come to love our new High Street shop.”
