Do I need to raise a certain amount of money?
Your entry fee only covers the cost of the event, so we ask each participant to fundraise or donate £50. Your fundraising or donation will make a huge difference to the lives of our patients and their families – for example, £56.24 could pay for two hours of care on our specialist ward. To fundraise please click here. Or to make a donation, please click here. Thank you for supporting Hospiscare!
Can I Gift Aid my sponsorship?
Gift Aid means Hospiscare can claim an extra 25p for every £1 donated. If someone is a UK tax payer and is donating their own money (i.e. money not raised via a collection or by the sale of goods), they should be eligible to Gift Aid their donation. To download a Hospiscare Gift Aid Declaration Form, click here. Completed forms can be emailed to fundraising@hospiscare.co.uk or posted to: Fundraising, Hospiscare, Searle House, Dryden Road, Exeter, EX2 5JJ.
If you opt for a sponsorship form, rather than online fundraising, please read the Gift Aid information on the sponsorship form before collecting any money. Your sponsors should read the declaration and complete the form in their own handwriting, including their full name and home address before ticking the box for Gift Aid. If people are donating to your JustGiving page, the option to Gift Aid will appear during the donation process. For more information about Gift Aid, please click here – or if you have any questions, please call us on 01392 688020.
How old do I need to be to take part in The Hospiscare Summer Walk?
The Summer Walk is a family event and open to all but an adult guardian must accompany each entrant aged under 16 for the duration of the walk.
What should I wear?
We’d love to see your best summer outfits and hope your attire will bring the sunshine! This is a 7 mile walk so appropriate footwear is essential. We therefore advise against flip flops or strappy sandals. Although it’s called the Summer Walk, it is of course the British Summer so please check the forecast before attending.
What are the timings for the day?
Arrival and registration is from 1.30pm with the walk starting at 3pm. Everyone walks at a different pace, but you should be back at Darts Farm to finish the walk between 5.30pm and 6.30pm. This allows for time to stop at The Puffing Billy and for your cream tea at Lympstone. The event closes at 8.30pm.
I have special dietary requirements. Will there be something for me to eat at the picnic?
We will be catering for vegetarian, vegan and gluten free diets. We cannot confirm what this will be yet and it may not be a direct substitution but fear not, we will make sure you enjoy equally delicious food on the day.
What are the parking arrangements?
There will be specific event car parking in one of the Darts Farm fields. Clear signage will be in place on the day to direct you to the event car park. Please car share or take public transport where possible to ease the parking and help with our desire to reduce the environmental impact of this event.
Is public transport an option?
It absolutely is. The number 57 bus provided by Stagecoach stops right outside Darts Farm but please check the timetable on Stagecoach’s website to ensure your return trip. There is also a train station in Topsham less than 1 mile from the venue.
Can I bring my dog?
Dogs are welcome, though we would ask that they are kept on a lead and that owners are sure to clean up after them.
