Many Hospiscare volunteers give an hour or two of their time here and there, others help out every week. Each and every one of our volunteers is a valued member of our team, whether they’re sorting through donations, keeping our gardens looking beautiful, or supporting patients and their families.
Finding a role that’s right for you
We have multiple volunteering roles to choose from, in locations across the heart of Devon. (Can’t find the right role for you or not sure where you fit? Please drop us a line at volunteering@hospiscare.co.uk to talk.)
Why volunteer?
Some of our volunteers have been with us for more than 25 years! People benefit from volunteering in a number of ways, including:
- Meeting a new circle of friends
- Getting to know the local community
- Learning new skills
- Getting work experience to build a CV
- Taking up a new challenge
- Supporting mental health
- Boosting self-confidence
- Gaining huge satisfaction in giving something back
“I love volunteering! Some weeks I can’t wait to come in and I’ll often do a little extra if needed. The staff are so lovely and welcoming, and it’s great fun.”
Who can volunteer?
We welcome volunteers aged 14 and up. For most roles, you don’t need any qualifications or special skills as we’ll provide full training. It could be that you’re retired and in need of a new challenge. Or maybe you want to build your CV to have a better chance of landing your first job. Whatever stage of life you’re at, we’d love to welcome you to our team.
“Volunteering has given me a huge amount of confidence. I really feel like part of the community.”
