Chris Musgrave is supporting Hospiscare by taking part in Men’s Walk on Saturday 15 March at Double Locks, Exeter.
Thirteen years of the well-loved walking event has seen £935,000 raised for our local hospice charity and this year, Chris is determined to be part of Hospiscare’s march to a million pounds.

Chris explains, “When I hear the word Hospiscare, I think straight away of my mum. This March, it will be six years since her death. Hospiscare cared so well for my mum at the end of her life and being able to support a charity that is very close to my heart is important in making sure the work they do is recognised.”
Chris first took part in Men’s Walk in 2020 to mark the one-year anniversary of his mum’s death. It has since become a yearly tradition in celebration of his mum’s life, as well as a way to give back to the charity that cared for her.

Chris continues, “It’s such a special day. Knowing you’re doing something good for a great cause, surrounded by friends, family and loved ones who are supporting you, either physically on the day or by putting their hands in their pocket in tight times to support you and the charity, brings a real sense of community.”

Caring for over 2,200 patients every year, Hospiscare’s vital services receive just 15% funding from the Government. Our hospice must therefore rely upon the incredible generosity of its community to ensure that specialist end-of-life care is provided to the people of Exeter, Central and East Devon at no cost to patients and their families.
This year’s event would not be possible without the continued support of Wilkinson Grant, who are sponsoring Men’s Walk for the twelfth consecutive year.

Chris concludes, “Every year, I have that sense that I’m playing a small part in something so important. I’ve enjoyed every single walk I’ve done and I’m looking forward to the one this year. Being able to raise vital funds for such a worthy charity is something I will continue to do for as long as I can, and I’d encourage anyone to take part.”
