Hospiscare Heroes – From in-memory walks to toy sales

Our Hospiscare Heroes have been as busy as ever, finding innovative ways to fund raise for our charity at this difficult time

Our Hospiscare Heroes are truly super; week after week, they support our charity with their fundraising endeavours across Exeter, Mid and East Devon. From all of us at Hospiscare, we are sending a huge thank you to all of our Hospiscare Heroes. Read on to find out how they have been flexing their super powers this week.

A black and white selfie or a man and woman

We are sending a huge thank you to Michelle Stevens-Lush who has raised a fantastic £1,440 by walking 200 miles in memory of her husband, Colin, who would have been 49 on 15 February. Colin sadly passed away in our care in 2018. Michelle’s original target was to walk 149 miles in Colin’s memory and she clearly smashed this! If you would like to read Michelle’s story and donate to her in-memory walk, click here.

We are also sending our thanks to Grace, Millie, Ryan, Lauren and Joe from Tiverton who held a toy sale last summer and raised a fantastic £135.50 for our local charity. It is lovely to see our young supporters fundraising in the community for Hospiscare.

A man holding an Exeter Brewery Men's Walk beer bottle

We are so grateful to Alan Collyer and the team at Exeter Brewery who have supported our Men’s Walk fundraising event since 2018. This year for our special tenth anniversary Men’s Walk, Alan has worked with us to create a special tenth anniversary tipple just for our walkers. You can read all about the beer and Exeter Brewery’s support of our charity here. To find out more about Men’s Walk – Your Way, click here.

Blue question marks on a blue background

We are sending out an advanced thank you to Paul Stanbrook who, along with his friend Felicity Salter, are running another quiz for Hospiscare. This latest quiz will be 100 general knowledge questions spanning 100 years.

Paul has raised an amazing total of £1,194 for Hospiscare with his three previous fundraising quizzes and we appreciate everything he is doing to support our local charity.

You can find the questions and make your donation here. Alternatively, you can email [email protected] to request the questions. Happy quizzing!

Ide Community Shop

Finally, thank you to Ide Community Shop who have raised an incredible £1,606.90 from selling face masks to raise money for Hospiscare. Thank you to everyone who has helped to sell masks in the shop, to everyone who has bought these masks and, of course, a special thank you to Janet for making all the lovely masks.

We love hearing your stories about how your are fundraising for Hospiscare so please get in touch with us on Facebook or Twitter to share your photos and fundraising tales.
