Hospiscare Heroes – From Jet Jumps to Trek Troopers!

Our Hospiscare Heroes have been flexing their superpowers to support our charity in an incredible variety of ways

Our Hospiscare Heroes have been flexing their superpowers to support our charity in an incredible variety of ways

Our Hospiscare Heroes are truly super; week after week, they support our local charity with their fundraising endeavours across Exeter, Mid and East Devon, ensuring we can be there for our patients and their families when they need us most.

From all of us at Hospiscare, we are sending a huge thank you to all of our Hospiscare Heroes. Read on to find out how they have been flexing their superpowers this week.

On Sunday 30 June, Joe Keep, Bradleys Branch Manager in Honiton jumped 15,000 ft out of a plane at SkyDive Buzz in Honiton in aid of Hospiscare.
Bradleys are proud members of the Hospiscare 40 club, a charity that supports over 2,500 patients each year for terminally ill patients and their families across Exeter, Mid and East Devon. Near the start of this year Joe decided he wanted to make a difference to the wonderful charity by jumping out of a plane…and so he did!
With Joe’s fundraising alone for his jump he successfully raised £884 leading up to the event. From everyone at Hospiscare, we are so incredibly grateful!

Hard rain, hilly terrain, cold winds, mud and streams weren’t enough to stop Hospiscare Hero Neil from running 54k to help raise vital funds for Hospiscare. Neil ran 54k through the night, even encountering deer and an owl on his epic challenge!

Neil saidSometimes you felt that it was never gonna finish. [I] went through every single human emotion that you can think of… But I did it”

Not only did Neil conquer the challenge, to date, he’s raised an incredible £590 for Hospiscare – all in memory of Brian Retter. Thank you Neil! If you’d like to show your support or donate you can visit his JustGiving page here.

Meanwhile, Hospiscare Heroes Pip and Elsa are continuing their GR11 Trek along the Pyrenees. With heavy packs, difficult terrain and plenty of mist and wet weather, it’s not been an easy journey so far and the dynamic duo have come across stunning scenery, horses, cows and even giant worms!

So far, Pip and Elsa have raised an amazing £1,740 for Hospiscare, but they’ve a long road ahead!

If you’d like to give these Hospiscare Heroes a boost and some words of encouragement, please visit their JustGiving page and donate today.

Good luck to Hospiscare Hero Xanthe as she takes fundraising to new heights on 10 July, when she’ll climb the Lagginhorn, a 4010-metre peak in the Pennine Alps in Switzerland. She’s been training hard for the challenge and we’re sure the mountain hikes and acclimatisation climbs will stand her in good stead for her ascent.

So far, Xanthe has raised an incredible £712 for Hospiscare and if you’d like to show your support and help her total climb, you can visit their JustGiving page here.

Thank you to this weeks’ Heroes: Joe, Neil, Pip, Elsa and Xanthe!
